First day at work: A relaxed start
The weather is sunny today. The sun shines down on the earth without reservation. Such clear weather seems to indicate that today's work will go smoothly. My mood is as calm as still water, without too many ups and downs. After all, today is the first day of work.
In the morning, I was entrusted by my younger brother to attend a meeting. I thought it would be a busy and fulfilling meeting where I could show my skills and contribute to the work. However, reality poured cold water on me. The meeting venue was deserted, and there wasn't much substantial business to handle. The production output was pitifully low, which was like a car with insufficient power struggling on the road. However, it was a bit of a relief that there were no problems with the product quality, which was a glimmer of stability in the dull situation.
Thoughts on communication with the boss and training costs
In the afternoon, the boss sat next to me and talked to me about 6 SIGMA. This is a hot topic in the field of quality management. It's like a shining star, attracting the attention of many enterprises and practitioners. We had an in - depth discussion around the BB training I attended. I explained my views on the cost - effectiveness of this training to the boss.
Currently, the company requires employees to sign a training bond, and the terms of this bond really make me feel conflicted inside. There is a colleague who participated in the training with me. He resigned before signing the bond, and it seems that he didn't make any compensation. You know, the company spent less than 5K on each person for this training, but the bond requires employees to compensate 100K yuan and two days' time in case of breach of contract. The gap is simply like the difference between heaven and earth. It's really not cost - effective.
Training effectiveness and knowledge application
Participating in the BB training, for me, was originally intended to systematically integrate the knowledge I had learned before, just like stringing scattered pearls into a beautiful necklace. However, the actual situation was not satisfactory. I felt that I hadn't systematically organized the knowledge yet. In fact, I had carefully studied the BB materials of GE before. Those main tools were part of my professional courses during my university days. Therefore, this training didn't bring me many new highlights. It was just like a bowl of plain boiled water with no taste when drunk.
However, the value of knowledge lies in its application. Whether it is the knowledge I previously mastered or what I learned in the training, it must be applied to actual work. More importantly, a thinking mode for dealing with problems should be established through this knowledge. This is like installing a precise navigation system on a ship, enabling it to accurately sail towards its destination in the vast ocean. If one simply learns knowledge without applying it in practice, even if they obtain a certificate, it is just a worthless piece of paper and will not provide much substantial help for future career development.
Project status and training cost - effectiveness
In the project I'm currently working on, there are very few places where 6 SIGMA knowledge is applied. To be honest, setting up a training system itself doesn't quite seem like a standard project. But since I've taken it over, I still need to do my best to complete it well. Just like a craftsman working on their own masterpiece, I'll carve it meticulously and strive for perfection.
Looking back on this training, I increasingly feel that compared with the requirements of the training bond, the cost - effectiveness of the training content is really too low. In my opinion, this contract of the company is extremely unreasonable. It is like a pair of shackles, binding the development of employees. I hope that the company can re - examine this issue and formulate more reasonable and fair training and compensation terms. Only in this way can employees be truly motivated to actively learn and work, and create more value for the company.
