The tortuous experience of joining a state-owned automobile factory after graduating from university and the outlook on future development

Graduation wishes and the journey to report for the first job

In those memorable days of college graduation, the mutual blessings between good friends and fellow villagers were like a warm spring breeze, injecting strength into us who were about to embark on different journeys. At the time of graduation, there was a classmate who was the child of Professor An at the school. After graduation, he didn't go directly to work but chose to continue his studies and later successfully got admitted to graduate school. He once earnestly told me that I should learn to adapt to circumstances after graduation. These simple four words contain profound truth, meaning that as we move from the pure ivory tower to the complex society, we must learn to adapt to the new environment in order to survive. Just as the ancient saying goes, "When you come, make yourself at home." When we come to a new workplace, we should settle down and do our jobs down-to-earth.

After I successfully obtained my graduation certificate and dispatch certificate, I contacted this classmate immediately. He kindly saw me onto the vehicle and I headed to my new workplace - the automobile factory to report. I came to City C where my new workplace was located full of expectations. At that time, I thought that according to the procedure, I should first report to Group A specified on the dispatch certificate. So, I took a taxi and circled around the city for a long time before finally reaching Group A. However, upon arriving at the group company, I was told that I needed to go to the automobile factory first. Helplessly, I then made my way to the automobile factory. After arriving at the automobile factory, I temporarily left my luggage in the security room and then went to the hotel where I had stayed when I came to get information before.

Early the next morning, I went to see the personnel manager of the automobile factory. After carefully examining my documents, the personnel manager arranged for me to report to the group company first. When I got to the group company, I was told to go to the Municipal Personnel Bureau to go through the formalities first and then return to the living community of the group company to handle the accommodation procedures. This series of troubles made me never expect that reporting to a new unit would be so troublesome. However, this can be regarded as my first lesson when stepping into society, which made me understand how important it is to learn to survive in adversity. After all these twists and turns, I finally completed the reporting procedures and then participated in a half - month vocational training organized by the group company. After the training, an exam was held. Later, I was assigned to work in the equipment maintenance department of the automobile factory.

Work experience and insights when first starting the job

In the first month, my salary at the automobile factory was less than 200 yuan, but I was still very excited. After all, after half a month of training, I could still get a month's salary, which was already a kind of gain for me. When I first started working at the automobile factory, I mainly helped my colleagues carry materials and fetched tools for the masters. Once, I saw a plumber in the department driving a four - wheeled electric cart for transporting materials. I was very curious and asked him for the key to learn how to drive. As a result, I accidentally hit an oil drum on my first try, and the incident was witnessed by the director of the automobile chassis workshop. The director informed our boss, and I was criticized once because of this. This incident made me deeply realize that one should not easily try technologies that one has not mastered, because one must consider the possible consequences before trying.

My roommates are also working hard in their respective positions. One roommate graduated from Anhui Institute of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering and helps the master carry paint buckets in the automobile painting workshop. Two roommates graduated from Bengbu Tank College and screw in the automobile interior workshop. Another roommate graduated from the junior college of the University of Science and Technology of China and learned to grind drill bits in the automobile body workshop (then called the stamping factory) for a week. From their experiences, it can be seen that many people with outstanding achievements start from the grass - roots level and accumulate experience from every little thing. If you want to gain rich work experience and a good network of personal connections, you need to accumulate slowly. Just as the famous saying goes, "If you work hard enough, you can grind an iron rod into a needle." If we want to make progress in a certain field, we must work hard and persevere.

Lessons from work and the importance of interpersonal relationships

Once, there was a problem with the automatic baking paint line for automobile bodies in the painting workshop. The leader arranged for me to cooperate with a master for maintenance. During the lunch break, we were playing cards. The master asked me to replace a very thick - diameter wire, but he didn't teach me how to do it. I just followed my own idea and tried to thread a wire through the conduit from top to bottom. I spent a long time doing it and was sweating all over from the heat, but still couldn't get it done. When work resumed, the master came. He pulled out one of the wires inside the conduit and then smoothly threaded the wire through. First of all, I need to criticize myself. I didn't ask the master clearly about the method of doing the work he assigned. At the same time, there was also a problem with the way the master assigned the work. He didn't follow the four - step teaching process - tell you how to do it, show you how to do it, let you try to do it, and check if what you've done meets the requirements.

During my days in the equipment maintenance department, I felt bored every day, and no master was willing to take me under their wing. In the state-owned unit, there is competition among colleagues, especially in terms of title evaluation and salary adjustment. Although I usually chat with colleagues, read newspapers, play cards and munch on sunflower seeds at noon in an attempt to integrate into the team, the result is not satisfactory. Through the casual chats among colleagues, I learned that there was a former undergraduate graduate majoring in industrial automation from Hefei University of Technology in the department. Because he didn't handle his relationship with the leader well, he was punished to clean the toilets for a year. This made me deeply realize the importance of interpersonal relationships. As a consultant said, "Academic qualification is a bronze medal, experience is a silver medal, network is a gold medal, and thinking is the trump card." It is crucial to handle the interpersonal relationships between superiors and subordinates as well as between parallel units.

The importance of professional knowledge and learning

The water level in the pre - treatment pool for car body painting in the painting workshop was not well - controlled. The boss took me to study automatic control methods. At this time, I was thinking about the course content of my industrial automation major. The automatic welding machine in the car welding workshop was broken and had been repaired several times without success. It was a problem with the thyristor device. I still had some impression of this course. So the boss gave me a circuit diagram and asked me to go back to the dormitory to have a look. At that time, my roommates were very envious of me and thought that I was going to be highly valued by the company. However, I didn't learn these professional courses well at school. I really regretted it when I really needed to use the knowledge. This made me understand that we really need to study hard at ordinary times and can't just cram for knowledge when we need it. In society, we still need to keep learning, because we may use the knowledge we've learned someday. The same goes for the accumulation of personal connections. If we don't pay attention to accumulation at ordinary times, no one will be willing to help when we need it.

Setbacks and Insights in Work

Once, several equipment maintenance staff in our department went to the automobile welding workshop together to maintain the welding equipment. We started to maintain one piece of equipment. Before we fixed it, another one broke down. A mechanic from City C asked me to watch the tools here. But when I saw them maintaining another piece of equipment, I ran over to secretly learn the skills of the old masters. When we returned to the original equipment, we found that the mechanic's adjustable wrench was missing. In a fit of anger, the old mechanic asked me to compensate for his adjustable wrench. I was very reluctant in my heart, but I still compensated him with the new adjustable wrench I had just received. I really couldn't figure out why I had to compensate. In a fit of anger, I gave other tools such as multimeters, test pens, and screwdrivers to another colleague because I could chat with him on the newly built automobile production line during work. Looking back now, I was too impulsive at that time. There is a knife above the heart in the Chinese character for "endurance". Impulse is really the devil. This impulse made me lose interest in my job at the automobile factory.

Leaving and Outlook for the Future

In order to have new development opportunities and get better learning and training, I finally chose to leave this state-owned automobile factory. I know that the road ahead may be full of thorns and obstacles, but I believe that as long as we are not afraid of difficulties and are brave in exploration, we will surely achieve our set goals. I encourage myself and also encourage everyone to cheer up and have the courage to move forward. I believe that there will definitely be a brighter future ahead.
