Looking back on the eight - year experience in a state - owned enterprise, starting a new journey with the quality examination, and looking forward to the learning path in 2025

Summarize the past and plan for the future: Comprehend the importance of learning

In the early morning, when the first ray of sunlight shone into the city streets, I stepped into the office fifteen minutes earlier than usual. This early arrival was not due to the urgency of work, but rather a creative impulse welling up in my heart. Sitting at my desk, as the world outside the window gradually came to life, I felt extremely relaxed and happy. So, I decided to write down my insights for the website's essay competition.

Before sharing these insights, it's necessary to talk about my work experience first. After graduation, I joined the state-owned enterprise where I currently work. Time has flown by, and it's almost been eight years. These eight years of work are like a piece of music without any ups and downs, only a plain and steady rhythm. My job position has also undergone some changes. I started with on-site inspection and gradually shifted to the field of quality management. Now, my work is rich and diverse, covering the application work for various product quality awards and production licenses. I'm also responsible for the measurement and equipment management of the headquarters (Quality Department) and participate in the internal audit work of TS 16949.

However, despite being in a quality management position, in actual work, only metrology management and internal audits of the quality system are closely related to the core content of quality management. The company has not vigorously promoted and applied management and the five major tools, and I myself lack the awareness of active learning. When I came to this forum and communicated with many expert members, I deeply realized that there was a huge gap between me and them. This gap is like a chasm lying across in front of me, which makes me clearly recognize that this will be the direction of my future efforts.

In 2024, time passed in a flash like a white pony galloping through a crevice. The work of this year still continued the past plainness. However, life always gives us surprises unexpectedly. There were two things that made me extremely happy this year. Firstly, at the end of May, my child was born. The arrival of the new life added endless joy and hope to the family. Secondly, in June, I successfully passed the Intermediate Quality Engineer Examination. This exam gave me a brand - new understanding of quality management learning and also made me start to attach importance to the study of professional knowledge in quality management.

Actually, I've been paying attention to the Quality Engineer Examination for a long time. People around me all said that this certificate was of little use. After my colleague passed the exam, there was no obvious change in their situation. So I've been hesitant and have never signed up for it. It wasn't until this year that the leader officially issued a notice, encouraging employees to take the exam and promising to reimburse the exam fees. Although the exam fee isn't a large expense, the leader's attention made me feel a sense of responsibility and mission. So I made up my mind to sign up for the exam.

After signing up, I bought learning materials online and started a three - month review journey. These three months were the most assiduous period since I started working. The level of my earnestness even made me feel it was comparable to that during the college entrance examination. Maybe some people will laugh at me and think there's no need to go to so much trouble for such an exam. But everyone's situation is different. I know I'm not very talented, and I also have to take care of my pregnant wife. Two weeks before the exam, the baby was born ahead of schedule, and I stayed in the hospital for ten days. Under such circumstances, I'm already satisfied that I could pass the exam smoothly. To reward my own efforts, I bought myself a watch. Although the company didn't reimburse the exam fees in the end and my salary didn't increase because of it, I want to share a sentence with everyone: Taking an exam is not for the company, but for ourselves. Just because the certificate doesn't show its value now doesn't mean it won't be useful in the future. Recently, I saw some job advertisements clearly stating that those with a quality engineer certificate will be given priority. Certificates are like equipment on our life journey. One more certificate means one more choice. As long as it's beneficial to our personal development, it's worth striving for.

Preparing for the Quality Engineer Examination this time not only enabled me to obtain the certificate, but more importantly, it had a positive promoting effect on my work. Through systematic learning of quality management knowledge, I gained a deeper understanding of my work. In the application materials for the product award, it was necessary to conduct statistical analysis of quality characteristic values, which involved the statistics of process capability index and the drawing of histograms. These are exactly the knowledge I learned during the exam - preparation process, truly realizing the application of what I learned.

The quality engineer exam is like a key that opens the door to quality management for me, enabling me to deeply recognize the importance of learning. In future work, I will formulate a detailed study plan, systematically learn quality management knowledge, constantly enrich my mind, and strive to become a true quality management professional.

Looking forward to 2025, I have set clear goals for myself. I'm going to teach myself the five major tools and at least reach a basic understanding level. For this purpose, I plan to read the relevant textbooks through twice. In addition, I'll often visit this website to exchange learning experiences with everyone and strive to upgrade my level to "Senior Green Belt". I also look forward to participating in relevant activities in Hangzhou and contributing my part to the development of the website. I believe that as long as I keep learning and working hard, I will surely make greater progress in the field of quality management in the future.
